Very much so....tapes also dont tend to be static sensitive...and if you 
are sensible survive the weekly offsite move via courier without loss. 
Just try carting drives about and see how long they last.

Yes...depends on how much you want to save and how important it is to 
you. I have an old DLT4 tape drive but tapes are $120 each and the few I 
have are failing...so I have switched to sata/ide disks and bacula and 
will do an occasional tar to tape which will go to my parents, either 
that or a DVD+R...

For example, a 1GB tape
