to me it does not appear as though he has acted on *any* of the advice given
to him on the list. Adam did not recommend intentionally breaking the package
system's state before attempting to maybe fix some of it again.

For the archives: forget the 'rm'. It is guaranteed to have done nothing at
best and harm at worst.
