I wasn't party to your question 5 years ago, and I would have answered it
on this forum in the past had I seen it. I apologize if you did not get
the answer in a timely fashion, but there is nothing I can do about that.
There are no "SNA topology on NetView" solutions for Solaris that I know
of, and so far as I know, never have been. Since all the products we have
been talking about are no longer being developed, it is unlikely that
there will be any. You would have to switch back to AIX. At one time,
all those products came under the marketing heading of "IBM value-add"
which means they were specifically designed to provide a reason to use
IBM-only products end-to-end rather than those of other vendors.
I am sorry but I have no knowledge of the internals of Tivoli Business
Systems Manager nor what it can or cannot do for you. That product does
use NetView data as a feeder, but I don't believe that you get a topology
map. I suggest that you pursue TBSM through your Tivoli marketing rep or
through another avenue rather than this forum. You aren't likely to get a
detailed answer here.

Okay, now that you have answered my question from 5 years ago... (when I
used AIX) how about Solaris? I know about AIX service point (dead horse,
move on) and am being spun in a lot of directions trying to get the
question answered (simple things like can this be done? and which
product?).
I need an IP solution from Solaris to OS/390 (v2r10) Where does Tivoli
business systems manager fit into this?

Scott Barr (and others of course) can still get SNA topology on the
NetView map if that is what is wanted.
SNA/6000 has been replaced by AIX Communication Server, which does that
job. It's a pre-req for talking SNA Manager/6000 which is used to get the
SNA topology into NetView. SNA Manager massages view data from NetView
V2.3 to obtain that topology. Once that is on the map, SNA Manager
queries VTAM for status periodically, performing a function similar to
netmon for SNA nodes. There has not been any new development on these
products for years, though they are still officially supported because all
attempts to withdraw them have failed. There just seems to be a small
cadre of folks, who say they want to see SNA topology and status on the
same map as NetView.
And Service Point is still supported for the same reason, because some
folks want to pass NetView traps up to NetView/390 as SNA alerts, and send
commands back. Every time we try to withdraw it, someone identifies it
as a mission critical product, so it is still supported, old and rickety
or not. Last I heard over 300 customers world-wide said they were
(still) using it.

You need SNA/6000 to push SNA to the unix box. I'm not even sure that
still exists. Very few takers on that product.
We also push IP to GMF/RODM. Great way to watch the world from one
console, or as many consoles as needed.
