amcheck-server: slot 4: not an amanda tape

hi hoping someone can shed some light, prob very simple.
last night i ran into an error > my hard drive allocated for amanda
dumps ran out of space.
now today i have tried to amflush and then amdump but i am getting an
error that day-04 (the expected tape (directory)) is not an amanda tape.
not sure what to do?
any ideas
