Please refer to the abundant documentation on this topic. Here's a good starting point, though the section on Linux excludes is just plain wrong. The Windows excludes are quite good.

This sounds to me like a stupid question, but I assume I add that to a config file? Rather than individually adding it to ever host I create?
Which configuration file do I add it to?
I assume there's a way to do this for Windows too? It may be a solution to my problem.
