Dear all,
I configured one backuppc in ubuntu10.10 after configured i face one problem, xfer method is smb all are in dhcp systems
pacews261 is host and dhcp ip is 192.168.1.41
Running: /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\pacews261\\D\$ -I 192.168.1.41 -U india -E -d 1 -c tarmode\ full -Tc -
full backup started for share D$ Xfer PIDs are now 3348,3347 [ skipped 1 lines ] tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED [ skipped 1 lines ] tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED tarExtract: Done: 0 errors, 0 filesExist, 0 sizeExist, 0 sizeExistComp, 0 filesTotal, 0 sizeTotal Got fatal error during xfer (No files dumped for share D$) Backup aborted (No files dumped for share D$) Not saving this as a partial backup since it has fewer files than the prior one (got 0 and 0 files versus 2)
how to solve these problem
Thanks Audi

And I don't remember seeing where you tried to connect
to that share from a remote Windows box: do you get an error there,
too?
For example: from any Windows machine Command Prompt
(besides the W2K3 server itself) on the network:
NET USE Z: \\SERVER\SHARE
/USER:USERNAME
Then it will prompt you for the password. Type
it in. If it connects and you can then see files on the Z: drive,
then your permissions are correct on the W2K3 server. If you get
an error, then the problem is with the permissions on the server, and nothing
to do with Samba/BackupPC.
One last thing: depending on the version of
Samba you have and the security settings on your W2K3 server, there can
be all kinds of conflicts: e.g. Samba is using a different (lower)
authentication mechanism than the W2K3 will accept. This is far worse
(and more common) between Vista/7/W2K8/R2 and Samba, but it is still easily
possible with W2K3.
This is just a random page found from a very quick
Google, but it gives you an idea of the flavor of issues you might be facing:
