Try 'amadmin <config_name> holding delete ...'
(see the amadmin man page)

I think this is a new feature in amanda 2.5.2

This is a little better than just blowing the dirs away.
If you do that, you could leave some log & index turds.
Usually this stuff is cleaned up over time, but not always.
