Generally you cannot assume that Amanda wants the tapes in sequence that
you labelled them, because strange things may happen to this sequence
over time.

One way is to read the e-mail as you mentioned.

Another way is to run the command "amadmin NameOfYourConfig tape" on
the tape server.
