No, other than breaking it down into subdirs, one per DLE, which is
what I've done here. In fact, I don't have a / in the disklist at
all, but entries along the lines of:

/usr/src
/boot
/home
/var
/usr/dlds
/usr/local
/bin
/etc
/usr/bin
/usr/sbin

etc, etc, with about 42 entries ATM. That which I don't want to be
included in the backup simply doesn't have a DLE.

This has lead to a tendency to use / as a temporary dumping ground
for transient stuff thats not going to be missed in the event I'd
have to format and recover to almost bare metal. I do go around
and 'clean out the trash' from time to time, but none of that stuff
makes it to the backup, and therefore wastes no space on the tapes.
By this mechanism, I can break each DLE down to a smaller amount
which the planner can handle better, resulting in a better fill of
the tape in most cases. Just don't forget, when you have more than
1 drive, to make use of the 'spindle number' in the DLE, which will
be used to help prevent disk thrashing because there are several
tasks all attacking the same drive simultainiously.
