It's a lot easier than it looks - and as a nice bonus you don't need to
spend ages tuning it.
WRT the earlier comments about SSD data spooling: It's a BIG win if
there are multiple simultaneous backups happening. Headseeks while
spooling kill throughput and that's exactly what happens if there is
more than one backup process accessing the area at once.
SSD on the database won't make much difference to backup speeds simply
because the only thing it's going to affect is attribute despooling and
that's only a tiny fraction of the overall backup time. It's a huge win
for anything manipulating the database and when making dumps.
