Well with the latest redhat/centos 5.2 (i believe it was backported to 4
too) you can use /dev/tape/by-id/scsi-XXXXXX-nst that should be fixed by
using specific id (instead of XXXXXX).

The only problem is that mt still use /dev/tape by default...
