There are many approaches:
- Dynamic DNS
- VPN
- Reverse tunnel
- Mirror files on server with rsync or unison, backup server instead
- Use a cloud storage system, backup the cloud storage instead

Additionally, in your case, you could simply set up two hosts, one for
