Because I am the one who will be owning the files and processes, thus to save 
trouble, I had the root user to be the dedicated user on the server.

What do you meant by "If you is installed the version packaged as an rpm for 
fedora, it should have created the backuppc user for you"

My backuppc server is running on redhat linux. I did not install the package as 
an rpm though. I installed using the backuppc tar-gzipped file.
