Kevin,

I am sorry you feel this way.

Actually, the SQL Agent doesn't clean up after itself.
It works the same way as the Exchange Agent.

As far as the support question...

IBM DOES support the Exchange Agent.

I am quite surprised at your comments.
I typically get involved in almost all problems
that cannot get resolved by level 1 or level 2
for the Exchange and SQL Agents.
I was not contacted at all in regards to any of your
calls or any for the Munson Medical Center.
Also, I don't remember seeing anything on this list about
problems that you had... and I am pretty active
in helping resolve Exchange and SQL Agent problems
for customers on this list.

This could be a failure at our L1 or L2 centers
of not routing the problem record to the correct people.
If so, I am sorry.

FWIW:

After much time and frustration spent trying to restore the Directory and
Information Store using the Exchange Connect Agent, we have decided to send
it back to IBM. Yes, we found that you have to write commands that delete
old backups, unlike the SQL connect agent that cleans up after itself. The
last straw was a call to IBM support that resulted in no support. They DO
NOT support the MS Exchange Connect Agent. We have asked for a refund.

Maybe IBM will have something that we can use for Exchange in the future.
For now, we will shut down the database for the five minutes it takes to
backup and restart it after.
