Greg
Well I have done it once - which was basically the following:

No Server OS - completely scre*ed:

1) using smart start
2) install BARE os Win2k3
3) Install NBU client, plus MP that was on the box
4) If Domain Controller, reboot in DS Mode
5) perform restore from master, ensuring to OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES

Another alternative, is reboot in SAFE MODE with Networking perhaps if you
get problems?

Does anyone have a tested, working restore procedure to recover a windows
server failure and crash? I would love to see what steps you do to recover a
windows box.

I did the restore as per the DR document. Now the host is continuously
rebooting. I found the following technote, Will give it a shot.

It should be covered in the disaster recovery document....

But as long as you have a bare OS and the NetBackup client is installed and
the client has been configured as before, you should be able to perform a
FULL RESTORE from a last known backup tape.

The Restore can be carried out on the client, or the MASTER SERVER that
usually performs the backup for this client.

Come back to the list if we can assist

One of our Windows system crashed during patch install. It has been rebuilt
now. I need to restore the OS from tape. I am looking for a procedure. Is
there a technote or a procedure I can follow ?

Much appreciated.

TIA
