mount your USB drive at /var/lib/backuppc like this:
/dev/sda1 /var/lib/backuppc reiserfs noatime 0 1
Where /dev/sda1 is your USB drive's partition for backuppc to use.
PS, in my case I am using /dev/md0 which is a raid1 array of internal
drives...
