Amrecover restores to the state of the directory as of
a particular date, i.e. the state of the directory at
the time of the dump on that date.

Lots of files may have existed in that directory at
the time of the level 0 (probably the first tape that
amrecover asked for). But between then and the date
you asked amrecover to restore to, many of those files
may have been deleted. Thus amrecover must delete them
from the extraction directory to match events between
the level 0 and the date you asked for.

If you don't find what you want, perhaps ask amrecover
for an earlier date.
