Using tape "/dev/tape" from server
ls -ld /dev/tape
lrwxrwxrwx 4 oct 31 12:46 /dev/tape -> nst0

You restore into a temporary directory, don't you?
You write, that you see the restored files in amrecover. And you see
them in the restore-directory while the restore runs?
Describe in more detail what you do, maybe you run two "extract"
commands in sequence?
