The zcat command line tool was not able to extract a file. I got no
error message but the output was a 0 byte file.

Disk usage appears to have been about 60% based on the BackupPC logs at
the time of the last successful backup. The free space is several times
that of the overall pool size.

Looking at the backuppc logs, however, it appears that on the morning of
the 29th (last successful backups were on the 28th) some weirdness occurred:

The machine was rebooted twice that morning and it looks like two
instances of BackupPC may have been started on the 2nd boot (which
occurred at 6:34 according to the syslog).

I ran some tests and it appears that the system is always trying to
start two instances of BackupPC upon boot. However, most of the time the
2nd instance doesn't start because the first one is seen. In this case
both instances were able to start (race condition?). Probably a bug in
my custom Upstart script used to start BackupPC. I'll have to dig into
that on my own.

Thank you for your help Les.

Erik
