I don't see why the version of BackupPC would matter much. Well, yes, 2.x will
prevent _nightly and _dump from running concurrently, so that would work
around the problem, if that's what you were aiming at. For what it's worth,
both lenny and squeeze contain BackupPC 3.1.0 (though different Debian package
versions).

The default kernel in lenny was 2.6.26, in squeeze it's 2.6.32. I would expect
the cause to be found more in that direction. However, I'm still wondering
about the kjournald oops ...
