Yes, that is correct. You comments here reminds me of a forum post or 
whatever I read during my initial setup on the first machine months ago. 
Thanks for jogging that memory cell loose.

So, in essence, manually running the 'troubleshooting command' (as I 
call it) asks for the ssh password, thereby causing the server 
acceptance and places the correct host info into the server known_host 
file. Then ssh becomes fully passwordless access and BackupPC can 
function properly.
