That is only a symbolic like to the actual device entry.
Find out what the actual device owner/group/permissions are
with "ls -lL /dev/scsi/changer/c3t3d1" (both lower and upper case L).

Then be certain that amanda user is the owner or in the group for
that device with rw permission.
