Yes, I should be paying more attention to these details.....ugh.....
I appreciate the help running a dump right now.
Final question hopefully ...
Are the any configuration changes needed to have Amanda use both drives inside
the tape library?

mtx -f /dev/scsi/changer/c3t3d1 status
  Storage Changer /dev/scsi/changer/c3t3d1:2 Drives, 12 Slots ( 1 Import/Export
)
Data Transfer Element 0:Full (Storage Element 1 Loaded):VolumeTag = EGV002

      Storage Element 2:Full :VolumeTag=EGV003

      Storage Element 11:Full :VolumeTag=EGV012
      Storage Element 12 IMPORT/EXPORT:Empty:VolumeTag=

Amanda.conf
tpchanger "chg-zd-mtx" # the tape-changer glue script

tapedev "/dev/rmt/1n" # the no-rewind tape device to be used

changerfile "/etc/amanda/Full/changer.conf"
changerdev "/dev/scsi/changer/c3t3d1"

cat changer.conf
firstslot=1
lastslot=11
driveslot=0
cleanslot=-1
autoclean=0
autocleancount=99
havereader=1
offline_before_unload=0
initial_poll_delay=0

Or will it automatically load another tape in the second drive , so far it has
not.

Thanks again for the information

you gotta read these things. ;-)

On my system, I have:

mormyrid:amanda$ ls -l /dev/scsi/changer

lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root          52 Jan 16  2007 c7t0d0 ->
../../../devices/pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sgen@0,0:changer

mormyrid:amanda$ ls -l /devices/pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sgen@0,0:changer

crw-rw-rw-   1 root     sys      151, 48 Jan 16  2007
/devices/pci@1f,2000/scsi@1/sgen@0,0:changer

I never modified permissions on any of this. I just edited the
/kernel/drv/sgen.conf, did a touch /reconfigure, and rebooted. It worked
with mtx immediately.
