autoflush doesn't?

Greetings'
Running linux. kernel 2.6.22-rc3, Amanda version 2.5.2-20070525
I just had a slight missfire in the scheduling, hit EOT with a big thud, and
left some stuff in the holding disk.
But, when I do an ls -lR on /dumps:
/dumps:

Falls out. No big deal I say, it should catch and autoflush it tomorrow
morning. Until it goes DING sufficiently loud to get my attention that there
is already something in there from back on the 7th of may!
I have 'autoflush yes' in my amanda.conf, so why was this not properly handled
3 weeks ago, its had 23 runs to do it in since then???
