I'm doing backups to disk on my debian box. It is quite easy: Basically
you have to setup a spec. tapeless tapetype (DISKSAVE in my case) and give
it as the tape device to amanda. I've attached my amanda.conf for your
reference.

I cannot help with the ide-rack system.
