I backup 1,200+ desktops, nt, 95/8, many unix flavors & Macs.

The biggest problem I have is keeping track of people who leave the
company. What should be done with their backups? The adsm node
contact string has an e-mail address and othe data in it. Sometimes
the node is still backing up after the person has left, so if I try to send
e-mail about a problem, the e-mail bounces.

Check with your HR department to get them to notify you of departures.
See if you can get HR to have the manager of the departing employee
work with you to dispose or transfer the original data then the backups.
