Thank you, that is an excellent suggestion. Thank you for recognizing it!

In this case we will only be considering English laptops, pre-installed
by.. well.. me.

If multiple languages would be an issue, I guess I would go with include
files on the laptops themselves, or the "ignore all directories with a
/.excludeme/ file in them" approach.
