[Bacula-users] Problems restoring an Exchange plugin backup
2009-06-25 11:52:48
I am trying to restore a full backup I made from our Exchange 2003
server. I read the docs and a long conversation from Graham Keeling
which seemed to end in a bug report that is closed.
I am trying to restore the backup into a fresh Exchange server which has
a Recovery Storage Group. I read somewhere that if a restore group is
available, Exchange will use it no matter what target you specify (which
is fine with me). This is what I tried:
Restore, mark all files in First Storage Group, including First Storage
Group itself, set Where to '/' and let it run. Result:
'Error: HrESERestoreAddDatabase failed with error 0xc7fe1f42 - Database
not found. Check that the Database you are trying to restore actually
exists in the Storage Group you are restoring to.'
The Recovery Storage Group folder actually gets a recovery folder when
the job starts so it is doing *something*.
Then I tried a number of variations but finally I read in a bug report
that you should only restore one database at a time. So I selected the
First Storage Group, entered the directory and unmarked the Public
Folder part, leaving this:
$ lsmark
*C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\E0002FC5.log
*C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\E0002FC6.log
*C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\E0002FC7.log
*C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\E0002FC8.log
*Mailbox Store (AXMAIL)/
*C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb
*C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.stm
*DatabaseBackupInfo
Run Restore job
JobName: fRestoreFiles
Bootstrap: /var/bacula/axnet-dir.restore.11.bsr
RegexWhere: !/First Storage Group/!/Recovery Storage Group/!
Replace: always
FileSet: Empty FileSet
Backup Client: axmail-fd
Restore Client: axemail-fd
Storage: File
When: 2009-06-25 16:48:44
Catalog: MyCatalog
Priority: 10
Plugin Options: *None*
Which resulted in the Database not found error again.
Finally I removed the Recovery Storage Group as a whole and ran it again
and got a "Error: HrESERestoreOpen failed with error 0xc7fe1f44 -
Unknown error.".
I am running out of ideas and the docs ain't helping. Is Bacula 3.0.1
able to restore Exchange in the first place? Shouldn't I use the regex?
Should I use a different regex? So far, the best result I got is the
restoration of the log files without any other data - which after 5
hours if pretty frustrating.
Regards,
Berend Dekens
