Hi
I've been successfully running Amanda on RH8 backing up a collection of
Linux servers. Now I want to add some W2K machines to the backup. I can't
seem to get this to work.
I have set up a W2K share and the various Amanda files as per the
instructions and gone over them a few more times.
I have checked the ability to log in & use the share as the amanda user from
Windows.
I have run smbclient & successfully logged in to the share.
I named the user on the W2K machine "amanda" & setup the password in Samba
to match the W2K password. Could that cause a conflict?
Here is some info from the log files as to what Amanda is seeing -
amdump: start at Wed Feb 12 02:45:00 EST 2003
        amdump: datestamp 20030212
        planner: pid 24114 executable /usr/local/libexec/planner version 2.4.3
        planner: build: VERSION="Amanda-2.4.3"
        planner: BUILT_DATE="Wed Jan 22 14:37:57 EST 2003"
        planner: BUILT_MACH="Linux bs1.paydata.com 2.4.18-14 #1 Wed Sep 4
12:13:11 EDT 2002 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux"
        planner: CC="gcc"
        planner: CONFIGURE_COMMAND="'./configure' '--with-smbclient'
'--with-user=amanda' '--with- group=disk'"

I set up a new Linux job at the same time - hsp-db -
planner: time 0.113: setting up estimates for hsp-db:/db/backup/hsp
hsp-db:/db/backup/hsp overdue 12095 days for level 0
setup_estimate: hsp-db:/db/backup/hsp: command 0, options:
    last_level -1 next_level0 -12095 level_days 0
    getting estimates 0 (0) -1 (-1) -1 (-1)
planner: time 0.113: setting up estimates for BS1://ADS1/AMRightFax
BS1://ADS1/AMRightFax overdue 12095 days for level 0
setup_estimate: BS1://ADS1/AMRightFax: command 0, options:
    last_level -1 next_level0 -12095 level_days 0
    getting estimates 0 (0) -1 (-1) -1 (-1)
planner: time 0.113: setting up estimates took 0.111 secs

That is the last reference in the amdump log for ADS1, though it did go on &
do the backup for hsp-db.

There is a line in /tmp/amanda/amtrmidx about not being able to open the
directory the index was in. The directory wasn't created presumable since it
didn't do a backup of the share.
That seems to be the only pertinent message in /tmp/amanda.
Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this behavior?
TIA
