Leslie,

I guess you answered to Lucian's query, not mine. As mine and Lucian's postings
have the same subject, I thought your answer is for me.....

Any way if any one would give any feed back to my posting, I'll greatly
appreciate. I think I've done every thing possible on NetView to get MIB data.
I do not see MIB data on NetView Monitor -> Other -> MyToolID. I can see my
agent running on another windows 2000 server receiving SNMP request and sending
MIB data.
I've attached my posting here again.

Thanks

I'm using Netview to monitor my own MIB. I've NetView 7.1.3 on Windows 2000
Server. I wrote my own mib that has about 20 mib variables in an array. I'm
monitoring this MIB object as an array. I used NetView Tool Builder to build
new MIB tool that monitors the MIB. Then I monitor this tool ID using Monitor
-> Other -> ToolID. I've set polling frequency as 15 seconds.

When I monitor this tool id, I get a window with 21 columns (21 mib variables).
I don't see any value in these columns. I've my own agent that is hooked to
Microsoft SNMP services. The agent reads values from files that is changed
every 10 seconds. If I use NetView Tool -> MIB -> Browse -> Get on my table
name, I get all the values.

Problem is I do not see any value when I use NetView -> Monitor -> Other ->
ToolID.

My intention is to monitor this MIB continuously and store the retrieved values
in database (MS Access) as 21 columns and many rows. This table is used by the
customer to analuze the system performance.

Do I need to create a table in MS Access for my MIB? Why I'm not seeing any
values when I use monitor?

You can use the mib application builder ,or the provided mib applications.
The builder is under Tools..MIB...Tool Builder. The existing mib
applications are under Monitor...MIB Properties. On unix there are two -
one that runs rnetstat, which may only show numbered interfaces and another
that shows the interface table, numbered or not. It may be the same on
windows. Add or modify the one that shows the interface table to include
the ifIndex if it is not there. Make sure it includes ifAdminStatus and
ifOperStatus. This allows users to display realtime mib values more
conveniently than the mib browser.

Netview should discover and draw non-ip interfaces IF they are connected to
other routers in the map, such as serial connections. This works best for
cisco routers with cdp enabled. Otherwise it uses route table information
to determine the connections.

The gtmd and xxmap applications are intended for software developers to
depict and monitor non-ip entities like SNA network devices or application
status, etc.

hi there

netview 713 on windows: there is any way to display non -ip interfaces
of a router? in netmon.seed I have almost all routers prefixed with an
$ (because I don't have icmp connectivity to all ip interfaces - there
are lots of tunnels blablabla) and I saw in help something about some
daemons for non-ip devices: gtmd and xxmd.
thanks
Lucian
