Mike,
What you are asking for is the standard default behavior.
Something is not working correctly for what you are experiencing.
Verify SNMP read access to the routers.
If SNMP is OK, then your name resolution is probably causing the problem.
NetView must find ONLY ONE NAME per router.
Regardless of what Cisco or anyone else tells you, do not give each interface on a router a different name!
Verify this by performing an nslookup on several interfaces, they should all resolve to the SAME router name or not resolve at all.  If NetView resolves each interface to a unique hostname, you will get that many unique symbols for the same router. If this is what your "DNS people" have done, you must not use DNS for those devices. Instead, use an /etc/hosts file just for the devices (routers) with multiple interfaces.

Modify your /etc/netsvc.conf "hosts=local,bind4" so that etc/hosts is used first.

I don't know if it can be done but sure would like a fix.

Is there a means within Netview to discover a device such as a cisco router
by it's name and only display a single icon for it.  In some cases I have
as many as 20 icons for the same router.  I have considered putting them
all in a location icon but that seems like a lot of work with very little
return.

Thanks,
Mike
