Mike, there actually is only ONE icon for each router.

What you are describing is the fact that the router in question participates in
20 different subnets - probably has 20 different interfaces. When you drill
down through the map, you see the icon for the router - the SAME icon as every
other subnet. This is not something you can fix - if you were to "fix" it, then
as you drilled down into a subnet, the router would not be there (since you
wanted the icon only in one place).

Discovering the router by name is as easy as including it in the seed file (and
probably want to use the extra SNMP management capability by adding the
$routername entry in the seed file too)

A location icon won't help you here. Spend some time with OVOBJPRINT and you
can see the relationships between the different object IDs (the router has one,
the interfaces have another, and the subnets they connect to have a third
object ID).

I don't know if it can be done but sure would like a fix.

Is there a means within Netview to discover a device such as a cisco router
by it's name and only display a single icon for it. In some cases I have
as many as 20 icons for the same router. I have considered putting them
all in a location icon but that seems like a lot of work with very little
return.

Thanks,
Mike
