[Veritas-bu] Improving Backup Times

I'm working here on improving the backup rates on many of our servers
and I'd like to ask everyone what has worked best for them?  We've got a
gigabit back end running to most of our critical" servers and dedicated
Master and Media Servers running our SDLTs and ATL.  At this point, we
think we need to focus on software settings and network performance.
I've increased the buffer the client uses for data writes to 128KB which
has shown marginal improvement, what other settings has everyone else
found success with?
