One thing I highly recommend is that you add the new master server name wit=
h a SERVER =3D statement in "bp.conf" before you do anything. This way if y=
ou have missed a client or two you can still use the new master server to u=
pdate their "bp.conf" information later.

Although I cannot offer a definitive answer to your question, I've seen thi=
s answer asked before on this mailing list and on Veritas' newsgroups - fro=
m everything I have seen, most if not every post or e-mail recommends again=
st doing this. Those who do proceed and change the hostname have a plethor=
a of problems afterwords.

Hello, I would like some information on Veritas' approach to changing the h=
ostname on a master server. I would like to know if Veritas have documented=
this procedure officially and is it available to Netbackup Customers. Is c=
hanging the Netbackup Master server name a procedure that is supported by V=
eritas. I have seen instructions to do this procedure on the news group but=
I haven't been able to get anything official from veritas.

Thanks.
