The way I read this, is that prior to 8.0, if you had a 7.6 client, you could
do a directed recovery to a lower 7.6 client (say a 7.6.3 to a 7.6.2), or
possibly even a 7.5 or a 7.2 or 7.3. We've done this many times - not entire
system recoveries, but file/saveset recoveries.
Once you upgrade a client to 8.0, you can only do directed recoveries to other
8.0 clients.
At least that's how I interpret the document. If others see it differently,
feel free to chime in.

Yes, I think that's it. That's a bit confusing, too - so the backup was
created from a client running 8.x client software, but the recovery is to
a client running 7.x?
Or does it mean that I can only do a directed recover from a client
running the same version as the target system? Or a server running 8.x can
do a directed recover to a 7.x client, but not 8.x client can do the same
thing?
