Re: [Networker] Errors after upgrading to 7.4SP5

Confirmed that this fix is 32bit only - if you have a 64bit machine (I
have not upgraded ours yet) with this issue, you might want to pester
EMC some more.
Also confirmed that the fix works for the one machine that I have
deployed it on.

Dave and all,
I just received word of a patch (awaiting confirmation that it is
32bit) for this issue. I will be testing it soon, and you may want to
contact your EMC support rep to obtain and test the patch.

Setting the parallelism to 1 might have worked, but that kinda
defeats some of the advantages of networker, and in any case, I
eventually gave up on 7.4.5 and 7.5.1. Both of them had serious
issues that I just couldn't work around, not just the problems with
the tmp files. I moved back to 7.4.4 and it seems working OK now.

Hi
try to reduce the client parallelism to 1.
The starting saves (if paralellism > 1) on the client try to write
the sd0000x files.
Only the first one succeeds. The other ones increment the x and
report an error.
kind regards

Funny, I just noticed the error the other day. I removed the tmp
files, and that didn't fix it.
Please keep us informed of any updates.
We also keep our Legato files on the D: drive of a Windows system.

Subject: [Networker] Errors after upgrading to 7.4SP5
We just upgraded our Networker server and most of our clients to
7.4SP5.
So far everything seems to be OK, except that now I'm getting the
following error in my Windows and even my Linux/Unix clients:
* xxx.xxxx.com:C:\ save: There was an error creating the file:
"D:\nsr\tmp\sd000001" errno: 17.
The Networker software is stored on the D: drive of a Windows 2003
server, which is where it looks like it's having trouble writing
these files.
I've tried cleaning up d:\nsr\tmp on the Networker server, but that
doesn't seem to fix the problem.
Anyone else seen this?
