Hello,
You are creating client for VM Servers so as to specify what backup
process ( VCB) you will use to backup the Guests running on the VMServer,
then the VCB scripts will use snapshots ( due to client attributes of VM
& VCB Scripts) to trigger a backups for the individual VM Guests.
I still think that a complete guide to VCB backups via Legato and Proxy
Hosts with detail explanation should be part of Networker Howto's.
Hopefully, someone takes time-out to do this and post it, as i believe
this will be the major confusion for a lot of us going into 2009.
HTH

To whom are you responding? If me, then the answer is that the VCB proxy
and
the Vmware ESX server are on the same physical machine. My NetWorker
server
is separate.

Do I have to create a NetWorker client on each VM? If so, why am I
bothering
with this exercise at all? I thought the idea behind doing VCB backups was
to back up the Vmware server and have that backup encompass the VMs that
are
hosted on that machine. Am I misunderstanding this?

How do I create a VCP proxy server? Where do I get those NetWorker
scripts?
We did install the Vmware consolidated backup software on our Vmware ESX
server, so is that what you mean?

If your reply was not directed to me ... Never mind!
