Hello,
Not sure if the Dell is Windows box or not, but if the drivers were 
updated you could loose compatibility the san surfer, check the version 
compatibility at Qlogic site and uninstall-reinstall San Surfer, by the 
way, san surfer can be used from another server ( with correct password) 
to manage HBA in remote servers.

Its been a while since the last time I tried, but as I recall, I used 
the SANsurfer GUI, but it wouldn't talk to these particular HBA cards.
It kept showing the cards as being off-line even though they were 
clearly working at the time.
