Hello,
I was going to say, i don't recall having to do all the manipulating with
dd ( i am on windows ) to extract an label, i have usually, mounted the
tape and ran scanner briefly to introduce the saveset\tape to media dB and
check what pool it was in originally.
Offtopic on recent savegrp -O cmd posts:
I am not running any special backups of groups with savegrp -O cmd, i have
been able to introduce tape\saveset with above procedure, i read here in
the post that nsrck -L7 -t ( to restore old data ) will not succeed
without savegrp -O being performed, is my understanding correct, all index
are currently being backed up after the group completion without
additional cmds\procedure and my client BP and RP are 3 week each.
Thanks

If you want some unix tools...

The free one is cygwin.
The Micro$oft version is called SFU

But then that's getting a bit off the topic.

I'm pretty sure scanner will tell you what the name of the missing pool
is if you try to scan a tape...

Course I know what a dos box is. However there's no 'DD' or 'OD' command
available that Networker 7.1.3 build 404 is aware of, or Windows.

Is it a free util I have to download?
