Doesn't backing up the catalog into a Bacula Pool of volumes defeat the purpose 
as it would be inconvenient to retrieve the catalog in the case of failure?

Sure it could be useful to have a catalog snapshow, but in the event of failure 
perhaps it would be useful to store just a synced version of the catalog in a 
different location.
