I work for A Very Large Managed Hosting Company.  We do all of our
customer backups using Bacula with storage on fault-tolerant SANs.

Make sure you have a BIG, FAST db server.

With a fat enough pipe in between, you could have a redundant offsite
SAN and run copy jobs to it.
