It depends on your reason for doing backups.

If you just want disaster recovery for the most recent state of the
filesystem, then you don't need to keep older Diff backups.  OTOH, if you want
to be able to restore a file created two weeks ago that a user accidentally
deleted on a Friday then you will need to keep more Diff backups.
