Hi,
I'm a little confused about retention times definitions for the
following situation:
I am doing daily backups (Full, Diff, Incr in monthly cycles) for all of
my clients. I want to keep all these backups for 12 month. 8 weeks of
these 12 month the data should be kept on a disk device (pool DISK).
Then migration should take place and the data should be kept for
additional 10 month on a tape device (Pool TAPE). After migration the
data should be purged/deleted from pool DISK.
I defined the following Retention Times:
For each job (going to pool DISK):
- File Retention = 9 weeks
- Job Retention = 9 weeks
For pool DISK (Next Pool = TAPE):
- Migration time = 8 weeks
- Volume Retention = 10 weeks
For pool TAPE:
- Volume retention = 12 month
Is this correct? Will I be able to restore 10 month old backups from tape?

Regards
Christoph
