Here the specs
The machine running the MySQL Database, the Bacula director and storage
daemons is a AMD Sempron 3000+ with 1GB RAM, 2 SCSI discs in a raid 0 and a
100MB/s uplink

The machine i am trying to backup is an Intel Pentium 3.2GHz with 2GB RAM, the
Data is on a single SCSI Disc and the box has a 1GB/s uplink.

I do not have the precise figures but the fragmentation should be quite high,
the Server is operating as Samba Server storing all the Windows profiles and
shares + a Mail and a Newsserver.

The Bacula version i am using the one shipping with Debian-stable: 1.38.11-8.

Ah ok, dedicating a few GB for this are no problem but can i actually expect
an improved performance? As far as i know spooling makes only sense when doing
an incremental backup so that the tape wouldn't have to stop and start all the
time.
