If they are stored on the NAS device it's most probably a simple user
plus password authentication. No problems to be expected. See man
mount.cifs.

Oh, and I would really like it if everybody set their mail client to
reasonable line wrapping...
Which packages you might need depends on many factors and you'll have
to find out for yourself. Especially as you didn't tell us which OS
you're talking about, which other ways to access the NASes file
systems exist, and so on.
samba client is a good start, of course. NFS might be possible, too,
by the way, but as you didn't even tell us which NAS device you plan
to use I couldn't look that up even if I wanted to.
What cifs means is, again, most easily found out by reading the
corresponding manual page. Alternatively, there should be kernel
documentation available if you're running linux. Both documents, in
the versions I find on my systems, explain the important things in the
first few paragraphs.
As cifs has nothing to do with NTFS I don't see why you would need
NTFS support anywhere.
Setting up both a file daemon and a storage daemon is, in my opinion,
truly simple.

Don't miss this year's exciting event. There's still time to save $100.
Use priority code J8TL2D2.
