Just because a piece of software doesn't need to be patched every two
weeks doesn't mean no one is working on it :)

My novice understanding is that the next release is a "whopper" which
fundamentally changes many things about how BackupPC works...so it's
taking a long time.  The current version, in my opinion, enjoys
excellent support on this list.
