generally, it's a good idea to mention what your problem is first. Nobody
likes trying to guess your issue from what your log file says. How about
simply putting

> [My] backups appear intact and correct. However I [am getting an error
> which, I believe,] means the pool isn't being used correctly?

before the log file quote?

Ah, you didn't read the documentation, right? There *are* recent versions
which actually support this, but likely you're not using one of those.
If you aren't, you should look at

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/backuppc/index.php?title=Change_archive_directory

Really? I've been following the list for quite some time, and I don't recall
anything of this sort, while there have been hundreds of threads dealing with
problems with changing TopDir. Actually, just googling for "BackupPC_link got
error -4" will point you in the right direction if you read through the first
few hits.

Do you also have invoke-rc.d in your path ? ;-)

Where do you get the impression there's anything wrong with the file system?
Reading and creating files works, linking consistently fails, so the FS is
corrupt? I don't know how good xfs_repair is, but I'd be *very* careful about
*repairing* any FS I'm not absolutely sure is actually corrupt. 'fsck' should
be a safe start, though it probably won't do anything on an XFS the FS driver
hasn't detected any corruption on.

Holger
