The FreeBSD package maintainers probably figured that since BackupPC
requires configuration anyway, and there are at least three distinct
choices just for tar, (under /usr/ports/archivers), that they can get away
without even mentioning that each tar command has its own documentation,
and that 'man tar' will show complete documentation for the built-in tar.
I'm considering a sternly worded email, but I'm going to wait until I can
contain my rage.

Those bastards at FreeBSD do make things difficult. Ever tried to type
"man tar"? It's nearly impossible, with all those letters that have to be
in *exactly the right order* for anything to happen.
