Hi Bob,

If I understand the issue:

 From the BackupPC server:

ssh-keyscan -t rsa $remote_host >> ~backuppc/.ssh/known_hosts

Or, you can just manually ssh into the remote host as the backuppc user:

su -s /bin/bash backuppc
ssh -l root $remote_host
exit
