I honestly don't know; I've done so much on these servers over the
last few months.

I can't take the machine down long enough to check.

I have killed BackupPC_nightly processes many times on various
hosts.  I assumed the next run would fix it.  It's possible that's
the issue.

If one isn't allowed to kill BackupPC_nightly, how *does* one stop
backuppc cleanly when it's running?
